Why Choose Kids@Play?

What is the difference between daycare and preschool?

When a child attends Preschool we follow a curriculum, there are routines and transitions, and classes are a developmentally appropriate amount of time. Conversely, daycare or “all day Preschool” is childcare when it lasts more than 3 hours.

Are your programs eligible for grants and subsidies?

Our programs are 100% eligible for Alberta grants and subsidies.

How many days per week do children attend?

Children may attend either 2,3 or 5 days a week depending on the parent’s choice and program selection.

How long do children attend Preschool each day?

Up to 2.5 hours per day.

Do you have a curriculum?

Yes. We have a play inspired curriculum that supports children in their investigation of early literacy, numeracy and social emotional development.

How many children in a class?

The maximum number of children in our Junior Kindergarten classes is 22 with two teachers. Our Pre-Kindergarten class has 18 children with 2 teachers.

Do the children need to be potty trained?
We understand that children who attend preschool are in the process of learning how to be potty trained and accidents happen. Please know that we are not able to change diapers and will call parents if there is any kind of accident.
Do you have special events in the year?
In addition to our rich curriculum, we have monthly special events to engage children in the wonder of learning!
Do you go outside?
We go outside at certain times of the year for special events.
What is your child guidance policy?
As we are a licenced Preschool, we follow childcare licencing guidelines in terms of positive behaviour support. This includes providing choices, redirection and positive praise.
How do you keep children safe during Preschool?
As we are a licensed Preschool, we follow all safety procedures that are required by Children’s Services. This includes but is not limited to controlled entrance and exit of children, developmentally appropriate toys, criminal reference checks for all staff, and a robust policy regarding careful review of children’s unique medical circumstances. As with any licenced Preschool, we are subject to unannounced visits by childcare licencing to ensure child safety and program compliance.
